Genius Loci offers mentorship in three flexible settings: at home, in selected library environments, and online. Each setting is designed to provide focused, individualized support while allowing students to learn in the environment where they are most comfortable and engaged.

Why does Genius Loci offer both Tutoring & Mentorship and Writing & Academic Support?

They’re different kinds of work — and you may need one, the other, or both.

Tutoring & Mentorship is about the person. It’s for students who benefit from sustained, one-on-one work: understanding difficult material, building confidence, sharpening skills, preparing for exams, or growing into a more capable, independent thinker. Our tutors work with students from elementary through graduate school, adapting to each student’s goals.

Writing & Academic Support is about the work. Here, the focus is a specific piece of writing: developing a college essay, guiding an application, refining a scholarship proposal, or providing developmental and editorial support to adults writing memoirs, novels, reports, or articles.

The two often overlap. But someone struggling with a subject usually needs a great teacher. Someone with strong ideas but a difficult manuscript usually needs an experienced editor. Genius Loci offers both, because we’ve seen how different — and how connected — these two kinds of expertise really are.
